Barnegat Bay rig mate pair of Wood Duck decoys by Harry V. Shourds Tuckerton NJ
Harry was a third generation decoy carver who had carved decoys for close to 70 years! His carvings are world renowned and his decoys are widely collected. In 1989 Harry was the first decoy carver to ever be awarded a "National Heritage Fellowship " from the National Endowment for the Arts! This particular pair of Wood Ducks are Barnegat Bay style , hollow carved , inletted bottom weights , rigged , branded , signed and dated. The hen's head is slightly turned to the left and drake is looking straight ahead.
The paint is highly detailed and they have great form = typical of his work! This drake measures over 13" long and is about 5" wide. Sorry but the stand is not included.
